Recently, I flew back to the Uk, with my lovely daughter, Sam, who had been staying with us in Mojacar for about a month. I love having her around. She's so creative and good company.
I was on my way to attend a thee day course 'The Feminine in Art' at Newlyn School of Art, near Penzance, at the far end of Cornwall. After all these years, I still felt constricted, in my artwork, by studying graphic design for several years at art school, in the 'late 60s. My dream was to be a sculptor, but that was not considered to be a 'proper job'. The course, in Cornwall, was inspiring and magical. As was our tutor, Kate Walters. I learnt unusual and wonderful techniques with watercolour that allowed me to shake off my constraints and to bring a kind of artistic freedom home with me.
